Crochet. Op shopping. Melbourne.

 Hi there party people.

I've been doing things and stuff - how about you?

Here are some of the things I have been doing and stuff.

Learning how to crochet like a boss. OK well not like a boss. Still check out those chain stitches or whatever. SO HIPSTER.
Been buying random old lady things and religious paraphenalia at op shops and festooning my house with them to annoy my husband. Like this.

And this.
And this hipster crochet rug.
Went to Melbourne with my Mum to see my brother. Because family.
While in Melbourne remembered it was Chinese NY so ate Chinese food in Chinatown and had a Chinese dragon rub against my crotch. Festive!
Also saw some impromptu fireworks. I'm guessing Melbourne is just that kind of town. People seemed fairly blaze' about them.
Saw some dude dressed as cookie monster playing the bagpipes. Oh Melbourne you beguiling centre for arts and culture.
Wished I had eaten some of these cakes instead of just photographing them. Oh well.
I've sort of realised I won't be able to keep doing this blog once I become a teacher. Or can I? Should I go underground and start a new anonymous one? Thoughts?

  1. CAKIES!! *drools* You didn't eat them??!!

Another crochet convert. I have friends who are addicted to it and have houses looking like something off Hoarders from all their yarn. You've been warned.

In regards to blogging when you're a teacher - maybe you could change it to Slapdash Teacher? Okay, maybe not...

Guess it's the incognito thing then. Works for Robo, anyway. xo

    1. That's true I should ask Robo. Don't worry I'm not quite at the Hoarders stage yet...will take a while at this stage!!!
I am sad about the cakies too. I sort of thought I would come back the next day (we had just eaten lunch) but we didn't. Boo.

    1. LOL. The reason I didn't eat the cake was that I had stuffed myself with wine and pizza and sweet pizza for lunch. SO annoying, I wished I had saved myself.

  3. I think if the world's most Important and Beautiful woman, Gwyneth Paltrow, can have an entire website devoted to her own magnificence then you should be able to have a humble blog......but yeah, anonymous!

  4. Keep blogging!
Or at least keep blogging until you actually become a teacher.
I love that crochet rug you found. And the one that you are making…talent!
And our house has its fair share of religious paraphernalia…it came with the house and you can't throw out a picture of Jesus! I always wonder what people think when they walk in and are met by Mary.
    Can we catch up soon?

  7. Your crocheting is almost as blindingly awesome as mine. We can start a crocheting circle where we do nothing but chain stitch.

DON'T STOP BLOGGING. It's actually like, not allowed.

Curious though, is it not allowed? There seems to be a huge number of openly blogging teachers (all of whom make spelling and grammar mistakes which makes me crazy).

    1. I'm not really sure! My Dad reckons not...I think I should go underground and remove all recognizable traces. Shame about my header though...I am quite fond of it. Boo!

    1. Crocheting random long strings of stitching seems quite easy - it's all the REST I can't get my head around! I love Melbourne too.

  10. I love to crochet but my poor old hands only allow me to do simple rugs now so I give them to charity shops to sell....makes them a little money.
The pictures? No religious ones for me ... they would spook me but love the farm painting.
Flinders Street station...remember it from when I worked there in 1950/51 and have always loved Melbourne. Was back there for a week in the early 1980s and still so easy to find one's way around. Much prefer it to Sydney.
Those cakes, best to look rather than eat for one's health sake but the odd indulgence is good for one as well. Everything in moderation as they say.

  11. I wrote a comment when you first published this but for some reason it has not gone through which is infuriating! Or maybe not becuse in all honesty it was probably a bit long and ramble-y. Anyway the main points were...

Crochet: Love the colour of your wool. I undertook a couple of crochet projects in my teens and found that while starting is easy finihing them is nearly impossible (for me anyway)

Religious Artworks: Also love but having met M I definitely do not see him being a fan ;)

Blog: If you choose to go incognito I resrve the right to call you Bat Girl or some other secret idenity super hero-inspired name. I will make you a picture and it will involve you wearing a cape and mask!

    1. BAT GIRL! M was surprisingly ok about my weird paintings and whatnot. Happy wife, happy life as they say!!

  12. Noooooooooooooooo - you can't stop and you can NOT become anon. Just do one a week to vent, LOVE your vents
Wish I knew about crochet, isn't it a game that I used to play on Aunty Barbara's lawn when I was little, with a mallet?
Artwork, if you love it then that's all that matters!
Sorry to hear Melb wasn't as you'd hoped, must be hard. But if you've done all you can, then that is the best you can do - hugs xxx
