Ugh I'm irritated because I missed yesterday in the great Bloguary blogging spree. I missed it because the totally cray weather had me hiding out once more at the inlaws in their aircon. This time with underpants. But sans any kind of technologically appropriate device to blog on.
Anyway, whatevs.
The temperature reached 43.5 degs Celsius in ye olde Western Suburbs of Brisbane. I think it is the hottest I have ever experienced. Just GAH.
We then, like veritable gypsies, moved on in the late afternoon to my sister-in-law's house. She was away and allowed us to stay and revel in her aircon. I turned that shit right down to 20C. Fuck that 24C crap, this was an EMERGENCY. I got quite cold at one point during the night. Don't judge me.
We also drank some of her wine and ate all her remaining rum balls. SHE WOULD HAVE WANTED US TO!
Today we packed the caravan, harnessed up the horses and traveled onwards to our next airconditioned host, our family friends the Ms. They also have a pool. They are lucky we didn't set up camp there.
Back home now in the ungodly heat. It is taking ALL MY STRENGTH not to wake up tomorrow and drive down to Masters and shout at the first person I see "SIGN ME UP FOR AN INTEREST FREE AIRCONDITIONING DEAL! I'LL PAY ANYTHING! I WILL GIVE YOU MY FIRST BORN CHILD!" but I know it might cause marital disharmony. You know, DEBT TRAPS and all that. Blah blah BORING SNORE.
I am thinking of starting a Crowdfunding project so people can club together and help me collaborate the hell out of the artistic concept that is AIRCONDITIONING THE SHIZZLE OUT OF MY HIZZLE!
Would you donate to this good cause? YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!
Also, how about that cricket, eh? And so forth.
I've never understood the whole putting the aircon on 25 degrees. Sure I know it's economical or some shit..but I wonder if that is only because the air con feels so much like there is nothing on that you don't bother turning it on!?
ReplyDeleteBefore I had Dyllan I lived in singles accommodation that included electricity in the rent. Each room had an airconditioner and I cranked the hell out of that baby. It was on 16 degrees constantly and felt like an icebox. Occasionally I would wake in the middle of the night feeling extra cold, so I would put some more clothes on because there was no way in hell I was turning that baby up!
I guess it's ENERGY EFFICIENT and ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY to have it at 24 or whatever but OMG that was NOT doing the trick on Saturday.
DeleteI always set mine to 16. 24 be DAMNED x
Delete16!! no wonder you always look so cool
DeleteI hear ya- only we are up from melb.
ReplyDeleteI is melting.
There is this site called esold that do portable aircon for 250 bux or some such- look into it.
I will totally look into it. We used to have a portable one but it used to leak water everywhere. MUSTY!
DeleteHavent you heard of bikram living?! ;p
ReplyDeleteLOl. I should be totally sinewy and waif-like by now. WHY AREN'T I DAMMIT?
DeleteIt's always weird to me when people say they don't own an airconditioner, but where we live we usually get at least 2 weeks of 40c + weather so I think I would die without one.
ReplyDeleteHope things cool down for you soon.
God yes. We don't have the cash but I would go into debt for aircon. M is of a differing opinion re: debt unfortunately.
DeleteYes I'm pretty sure if it was us Ty would be of the same opinion as M!
Deletelaughed out loud re the fantasy trip to Masters! I am prepared to pay any price for a cool home x
ReplyDeleteWe have no cash but I would go into any amount of debt if it meant aircon. M is not of this opinion unfortunately. Boooooooo.
DeleteI am trying to empathise as we are blasted with gale force winds, floods and a plague of locust (might have made that last on up ...) but it's hard as I snuggle up to my hot water bottle and survey the ever increasing damp patch on the spare bedroom ceiling - I WISH IT WAS SUMMER HERE :(( XX
ReplyDeleteSounds like a trip to Iceworks is in order x
ReplyDeleteYes! I second Housewife in Heels!
ReplyDeleteCome to Iceworks!
It is the kind of place where all the windows are open and yet it is still freezing inside!
Take that air con misers!
Also the beers are ice cold and the cocktails are reasonably priced.
I spent a fair bit of my Saturday hunkered down there and I was impressed.
Well if you must live in the great north ...I know everyone would want you to take all that is offered at their abodes they wouldn't have asked you otherwise would they ??? dont think too much about that one
ReplyDeleteIf I haven't wished you Happy 2014 I am now
